End-of-the-Year Music 2010

FP YTPMV 2010It’s getting near the end of the year, and I’ve got a number of releases coming up! First off, I have a yearly compilation of songs coming up called “FP YTPMV 2010″ (2009 was last year’s, of course). For those of you who don’t know, YTPMV stands for YouTube Poop Music Video, which is basically just plunderphonics made in a video editing program. It will likely be released pretty late in December.

Secondly, there’s a Halloween/Winter Music Collaboration on my forum that you should check out and participate in if you can. I will have at least the finished version of the following track on it:

The release that is up in the air at the moment is my debut (not counting my poorly played 2007 demos) analog (instruments!) EP that I told myself to make before 2011. At this point if I get one song done I’d be pretty happy. If you’re lucky, there’s a secret collaborative cover I just need to play guitar and render drums for (the vocals have been done by one of FPFM‘s artists) that might be done by year’s end.

I keep music posts to a limit here, so if you’re interested, I keep people updated via my artist Facebook page, so if this place doesn’t keep you informed enough, that page will.

New Music: “How Is Babby Formed?” + Remixes & More

Filed Under: Comedy, My Music, Personal by Steve — Leave a comment
June 20, 2010

Lately I’ve been interested in making music quite a bit, and I have! 95% of it is electronic, though. Nonetheless, I’m pretty happy with the new comedy song “How Is Babby Formed?”, which people seemed to like right away, but the interest seemed lacking by the time the video was released:

Another song I made recently was supposed to be something simple for a video editing competition I was in, but ended up sounding cooler than I thought, so I uploaded another version that was just the song part looped three times:

Both will be found on FP YTPMV 2010, but one of them has its own single/remix EP.

For almost a year, I’ve been throwing about the idea of making one of these (the non-lyrical kind) as a cover, and actually singing the song myself. I think I’m finally going to attempt it soon.

Wisdom Teeth Removed & Making New Music

Filed Under: My Music, Personal, Psychology by Steve — 1 Comment

Whoever said technology is evil had their wisdom teeth removed in the 70s. I just had mine removed a few hours ago. Amazingly painless! Well, there was pain in the process, but very, very little. Now, however, I’m dealing with some pain due to the after effects. I’m on some pain killer now and it’s doing its job pretty well.

When I heard I was going to have to take it, I jokingly thought to myself “I should make some music while I’m on this since I don’t do recreational drugs; a lot of big-time musicians use drugs for inspiration!”, but then I got more serious about it, and now I’ve started working on an EP called Creativity Placebo, a musical experiment of sorts. I’ll get to see for myself if drugs actually change the creative process or outcome of the music. As you might have guessed by the title, I’m quite skeptical.

I’m doing it for science!

My skepticism of the effects reminded me briefly of the claim that Socrates was unaffected by alcohol. I thought about that, and then I thought about Socrates for a bit, and I arrived at the possibility that this is a lesson in disguise. Socrates is obviously against assuming things, and when it came time for people to drink, odds are he was seen holding a cup, possibly even drinking from it. The drunk people around him probably assumed that the contents were alcoholic, or, had it been, that he had actually been drinking it. He would then appear to be able to drink it and not get drunk.

Why am I elaborating? You understand.

Welcome to Steve’s Personal Blog

Me in 2009.Well, after all these years on the web, I have finally gotten my own blog that isn’t on some blog host site. At the risk of sounding egotistical, it’s about time. Yeah, I should have done this earlier; my blogs on MySpace had the most intelligent conversations in the comments I had ever seen on that site (is that saying much?), and I’ve had moderate success on almost every medium I choose. One exception was Tumblr, some blogging site for people with attention disorders (I’m kidding… partially). It was then I became aware that the standardized blogging scene was getting stale, and I needed something more flexible, personal, and more likely to only have ads I get money for.

Things are going well on the Internet for me. I’ve had a lot of fun building a site, community, music label, and being a provider of something people use. I’m hoping it finally gets recognized by a larger audience and I can get a paycheck from Google. That would be the day, wouldn’t it? Well, it’s in the works, but it’s slow.

Speaking of ads, I recently got an invitation by YouTube/Google to have ads put on my video that I’ll get paid for. I’ve been (kind of) waiting over two years for that. My video, “38 Years in Jail For Cheating in School?” is now a “partner” video. It’s a year old, though, and I hate how close I am to the camera, but it’s making me money and it’s basically my foot in the door for becoming a full YouTube Partner, so I’m keeping it up. The thought of making money on YouTube sparked my interest again, so I made a new video for the first time in months. I’ll post that here later.

Tomorrow I get my wisdom teeth removed. Here’s hoping the change in the internal shape of my mouth allows me to sing well.
