New Music: “How Is Babby Formed?” + Remixes & More

Filed Under: Comedy, My Music, Personal by Steve — Leave a comment

Lately I’ve been interested in making music quite a bit, and I have! 95% of it is electronic, though. Nonetheless, I’m pretty happy with the new comedy song “How Is Babby Formed?”, which people seemed to like right away, but the interest seemed lacking by the time the video was released:

Another song I made recently was supposed to be something simple for a video editing competition I was in, but ended up sounding cooler than I thought, so I uploaded another version that was just the song part looped three times:

Both will be found on FP YTPMV 2010, but one of them has its own single/remix EP.

For almost a year, I’ve been throwing about the idea of making one of these (the non-lyrical kind) as a cover, and actually singing the song myself. I think I’m finally going to attempt it soon.

Creativity Placebo & Long Distances

Creativity PlaceboI released my first electronic EP yesterday. I added it to my label page and posted a link to it on FPF… Ten views, no responses so far. I posted it on Facebook. No replies whatsoever. I’m beginning to think it was pretty bad, but I can’t tell for sure. I’d rather know it’s bad than have to wonder. It’s not like I’m charging for the thing, either.

I suppose it’s for the better if no one downloads it, though; I’d hate to disappoint them when I come out with some alternative rock album later (if that ever even happens) if they happened to like it, though, if they did like it, I’d probably make more. Maybe if I can sing now, I’d be more motivated to produce something solo. Being in that studio alone for a long time gets into your head, though.

All my friends seem to be moving away. I tried to solve this problem by becoming cool, but that didn’t work out so I guess I’ll have to visit them. I’d really like to go on some sort of road trip thing. I feel my perspective of the world has been forcibly made narrow by my living conditions, and it would do me good to get a few friends together and see the world. Off the top of my head, places I’d stop along the east coast would be St. Augustine (FL), Wherever Mac happens to be living at the time (NC), and New Jersey (I know a lot of people up there). Before you say “Surely, you must have more places to go than that if you wish to invest in a vacation!”, anyone else I’m going with would probably have places they’d want to go too, and since I don’t have a lot of money, I’m in no position to suggest that we don’t go where they wish to.

I went to the record store today and picked up Between The Never And The Now by Vendetta Red (and a few other less notable albums). Awesome.

Wisdom Teeth Removed & Making New Music

Filed Under: My Music, Personal, Psychology by Steve — 1 Comment
April 16, 2010

Whoever said technology is evil had their wisdom teeth removed in the 70s. I just had mine removed a few hours ago. Amazingly painless! Well, there was pain in the process, but very, very little. Now, however, I’m dealing with some pain due to the after effects. I’m on some pain killer now and it’s doing its job pretty well.

When I heard I was going to have to take it, I jokingly thought to myself “I should make some music while I’m on this since I don’t do recreational drugs; a lot of big-time musicians use drugs for inspiration!”, but then I got more serious about it, and now I’ve started working on an EP called Creativity Placebo, a musical experiment of sorts. I’ll get to see for myself if drugs actually change the creative process or outcome of the music. As you might have guessed by the title, I’m quite skeptical.

I’m doing it for science!

My skepticism of the effects reminded me briefly of the claim that Socrates was unaffected by alcohol. I thought about that, and then I thought about Socrates for a bit, and I arrived at the possibility that this is a lesson in disguise. Socrates is obviously against assuming things, and when it came time for people to drink, odds are he was seen holding a cup, possibly even drinking from it. The drunk people around him probably assumed that the contents were alcoholic, or, had it been, that he had actually been drinking it. He would then appear to be able to drink it and not get drunk.

Why am I elaborating? You understand.
