End-of-the-Year Music 2010

FP YTPMV 2010It’s getting near the end of the year, and I’ve got a number of releases coming up! First off, I have a yearly compilation of songs coming up called “FP YTPMV 2010″ (2009 was last year’s, of course). For those of you who don’t know, YTPMV stands for YouTube Poop Music Video, which is basically just plunderphonics made in a video editing program. It will likely be released pretty late in December.

Secondly, there’s a Halloween/Winter Music Collaboration on my forum that you should check out and participate in if you can. I will have at least the finished version of the following track on it:

The release that is up in the air at the moment is my debut (not counting my poorly played 2007 demos) analog (instruments!) EP that I told myself to make before 2011. At this point if I get one song done I’d be pretty happy. If you’re lucky, there’s a secret collaborative cover I just need to play guitar and render drums for (the vocals have been done by one of FPFM‘s artists) that might be done by year’s end.

I keep music posts to a limit here, so if you’re interested, I keep people updated via my artist Facebook page, so if this place doesn’t keep you informed enough, that page will.

Not-So-Serious Predictions as of October 2010

Filed Under: Comedy, Future, Internet, Short by Steve — Leave a comment
October 2, 2010

2013 – The first Internet petition to actually have an affect on an outcome of anything opens to the public. The effect is felt for three days.

2014 – The next social networking site overtakes Facebook; Facebook becomes the new MySpace, MySpace becomes the first large-scale social network to disappear.

2015 – First successful brain-to-text hardware prototype goes into production. Twitter becomes an upper fortune 500 company.

2017 – The Internet becomes uninteresting to those with an IQ over 35 due to the lack of images that aren’t in motivational poster format.

2018 – Google buys China.

2020 – There are 15 times as many proxies as there are people, making phone tracing difficult for even the most well-funded organizations.

2021 – US Congress Makes Proxies Illegal; inability to enforce this makes them look silly. Yahoo buys India. Google buys the European Union.

2022 – Governments deemed to only consist of “Power-hungry aged children in suits” and dissolved. World’s last lawyer commits suicide. Suits now considered “Not very functional 20th century fashion”.

2023 – Al Gore dies. His cremated ashes rise into the upper atmosphere, mending the ozone layer.

New Music: “How Is Babby Formed?” + Remixes & More

Filed Under: Comedy, My Music, Personal by Steve — Leave a comment
June 20, 2010

Lately I’ve been interested in making music quite a bit, and I have! 95% of it is electronic, though. Nonetheless, I’m pretty happy with the new comedy song “How Is Babby Formed?”, which people seemed to like right away, but the interest seemed lacking by the time the video was released:

Another song I made recently was supposed to be something simple for a video editing competition I was in, but ended up sounding cooler than I thought, so I uploaded another version that was just the song part looped three times:

Both will be found on FP YTPMV 2010, but one of them has its own single/remix EP.

For almost a year, I’ve been throwing about the idea of making one of these (the non-lyrical kind) as a cover, and actually singing the song myself. I think I’m finally going to attempt it soon.

2010 ReBoot Movie: Thoughts on 17 Seconds of Footage

Filed Under: Personal by admin — Leave a comment
June 2, 2010

After rediscovering the entire show on YouTube in 2008, I had an interest in seeing some sort of remake or revival, though I thought the odds of that were incredibly slim. Hardly anyone I knew near me or even on the Internet even knew that the show existed. If it was that unpopular, there wouldn’t be a driving force to make anything new related to it.

Oh well, movie time anyway:

Reboot 2010 Movie Guardian AnimationA lot of the voice actors from the original show have moved on to other things or passed away (like Tony Jay, the voice of Megabyte), so I guess it’s only natural the “Warning, incoming game.” voice was changed, but then, half a year later, I found a 3 second clip of what appears to be demonstration footage of a Guardian character from the movie; the “Loading Guardian” text on the side also kind of hints at that. The detail is fantastic on the full-size version, but it also almost seems too detailed; the original show had very flat skin, which was fine because the characters were representing things that go on in a computer. They don’t need to look like they have skin cells.

ReBoot from the 90s, probably the end of season 1.I’m still looking forward to seeing the movie at this point, but if that Guardian is the main character, I feel like I will be disappointed. They could probably pull off an entire movie based on the goings-on in an entirely different computer, but that would initially be a let-down. I suppose seeing all the familiar characters in extreme detail and with different voices wouldn’t be that much better though, so maybe Rainmaker knows what they’re doing. Then again, some of this stuff could be out of context, like that “Loading Guardian” clip could be from one of the games. Rebooting would explain both the unusual appearance and that digital construction. There are what look like buildings loading in the background, too.

There’s also a rumor that it’s going to be a trilogy. I’m still trying to come to grips with the idea of one movie being made.
