A separate thread for FPFM-specific recordings.

I'd been considering getting down and actually recording a proper album, and being invited to join FPFM was the motivation I needed. As such, I'll be posting updates, clips, etc here as I work my way through my records. I'll be titling my first full-length release: BlackholeWhitespace. I don't think anything I've posted to SoundCloud thus far sounds quite like what I'll be doing for it, but I can say it will feature the completed version of "The Forgotten One",the instrumental of which was included in this year's The First Snow of Winter compilation. I will also be re-recording "They Call Me Person Man" under a different title (now on SoundCloud), and I will be covering a few of my own dad's songs among others. If anything, expect a kind of experimentalism in a Post-Punk, Alternative Rock, Avant-Garde context.

I also have an ambient/soundscape/noise EP planned for down the pipeline titled: The Right Way to do Everything. It too will feature tracks I've released thus far, but you've likely only heard one of them.

Good to hear I was able to motivate someone! How many private songs do you have already? I have a hard time making a song and not releasing it myself; it seems like a lot of people have the ability to keep stuff put away.

I will be covering a few of my own dad's songs.

Are there any examples of those songs on the Internet?

I don't have anything else complete and in private. I actually have a hard time keeping things in private. I release shit I know I'm not gonna be proud of later. Aside from the covers and "Person Man", most of the songs I have planned are just ideas at this point, but ones I intend to complete.

Yeah, I posted almost every song he recorded on my music channel on YouTube. I have a playlist of my favorite songs of his. I think the ones I'm going to record are in there.

I was fiddling around with a simple drum loop shortly after listening to Cabaret Voltaire's "Do the Mussolini". After piling more noisy ringing on top and adding a bassline, I came up with something that may find its way into the ambient/noise EP I'm working on alongside my debut album.

Yeah really. I process everything so much it oughta be electronic, though.

As of now I have two completed songs out of the prospective eleven for BlackholeWhitespace. The Right Way to do Everything is also nearly completed, and I intend to release (the now-completed) "Lost Effort" as a single and probably my first FPFM release. If anyone is interested in remixing "Lost Effort" as a B-side, PM me.

Been a little [heavily] distracted by Borderlands, but I got down to recording another song, bringing the count to 4/11. I have a new song fully written and planned; may record the instrumental tonight as well. Plus, my friend LillyLivers is back home, so I'm going to try to set a time when she can record the vocals for "The Forgotten One".

Rad, guest vocals! I hope to get some guest vocals on my own music sometime.

I've been distracted from my music by video games, too. That's been going on for a while, though.

Yep, Lilly's voice will be perfect for the song. The way I wanted to do it originally didn't work.

Having completed another song today, I now understand what Andy Partridge of XTC meant when he said that "guitarists play patterns". Funny how he managed to influence and inspire me without me even noticing. I could have sworn it would have been his insistence to not play obvious chord sequences.

I've finished "There for Me" and "The Forgotten One", bringing the completed tracks to 7 / 11. I will post the tracklist when I have settled on a running order. I intend to finish the album this next week, so expect it sometime next week.

Edit: After getting the urge to sing a random Sparks song, I'm now sure what.

Yeah, I'm thinking of either releasing all the WIPs as bonus tracks or as a bonus "disc".

If you have enough of those tracks, you could pretty much just make an album of that content and give it a similar name like GravitywellVoidstatic, WhiteholeBlackspace, or something to that effect. Albums with potential opposite names like that seem to not be taken advantage of vary often.

Updated the tracklist; decided to drop one of the potential tracks, so it's going to be 10 songs long. I just need to record vocals for the final song and it'll be ready for release on Monday.
