Here's a place to type things and people might read them. If you're lucky, someone will respond; if you're even luckier, that response will be nice!

Yeah, I don't typically allow myself to play truth or dare, but the birthday boy got special treatment from time to time, so all and all it turned out pretty well.

How was your hibernation? Did you gain any powers?

Did anyone get an e-mail from the forum recently? I think the e-mail system isn't working. Either that, or 95% of the users have closed the e-mail account they signed up to this forum with.

I gained the power to hit a computer with a wrench and get paid for it. It's a good life.

We're almost in the same business!

Tech Secure 411, the company I do web design for, also does computer repair.

And good to see you're back too, Robochao!

Sup guys.

Philosophy circle's coming back online, and I'm going to be redesigning my sites.

Pleased to be back where I belong: sitting on my ass in front of a computer to read, write, and make videos/websites all day. :D

Steve, you should get me Alyssa's email address.
Steve, I changed the server password one more time.

Mac and Philosophy Circle

Postby Steve » Sat May 05, 2012 9:41 pm

Good to see you back, Mac! Facebook is much less interesting without your posts showing up from time to time.

I was thinking of seeing if we could get the philosophy group back together using this forum, but the circle being restored sounds good, too!

I'll get Alyssa's e-mail to you soon; I'll have to find it or contact her first.

It's cool that you guys do still show up.

I'm surprised we don't get some new people from time to time, since the site does fairly well with some search results. I think it's a lack of specialization; we don't really have a core idea that is unique enough to have a following.

to be fair, this started (in my view) as an offshoot to a forum that his divested itself of its "true purpose" so that whiny adolescents can blab on about subpar video games and children's cartoons and tell each other what great people they are.

compound that with the level of inactivity here (i can go a week and see perhaps three new posts) and there is little incentive for new users to join.  im sure youve noticed the few we do get around here making 10-20 posts their first few days then disappearing for a long time, if not forever.

ive noticed that to attract users that stay, you need to respond more quickly to them than is the norm around here.

oh dont take any of this personally, this is just a "professional opinion".

That's good info, some of it was what I've come to suspect. It seems like I need to find a way to get a bunch of people here all at once, so they'll be on with activity and want to see what happened after they left.

Any idea how to do that? I'll do it myself if I can.

none whatsoever.  if you make me a little graphic, i can append it to my mspa forum sig.  im becoming more and more visible there as word spreads that i am making a game that many before me have attempted......  only i have made more progress on my game than on any similar project in recent memory.  my thread has 5000+ views and several folks who post frequently, as well as many who state they watch the thread.

so a little banner sig image complete with the bbcode to use it and use it as a link to this site would be a handy thing for many of us to have.

other than that and/or word of mouth, i havent the foggiest.

oh, and i'll talk to gendo, perhaps he can get some decent people to join us here.

Forum Promo Banner

Postby Steve » Fri Jul 27, 2012 5:31 pm

Alright, I'll get right on that. Are there any standardized banner sizes that are commonly found across forums on the Internet? I can make something like that, make options available, and put them all on a "share us" page on the site. They'll be free to "steal" in the sense that you won't have to download them and reupload them to a third party site; you can copy/paste our link.

All I remember for sizes is that 125x125 is a common one for blogs. Everything else I remember is AdSense-related.

i'd like something no more than 52 px tall, so as not to force-hide my mspa forum sig.  i could use something larger, it'd just have to be spoilered, and that is not as visible.

something the same dimensions as this -

would be ideal for me.
